Millwall FC has confirmed that one Liverpool loanee will return to the club after his loan spell at The Den.

Several Liverpool players went out on loan this season, with some enjoying impressive temporary spells away from the club.

Stefan Bajcetic, Kaide Gordon, Ben Doak, and Lewis Koumas all had some impact at their respective clubs.

However, injuries were a major setback for many of the club’s loan players.

Jayden Danns, Doak, Luke Chambers, and Calum Scanlon are some of the Reds youngsters who had ill luck with injuries this season.

Chambers, for example, returned to Liverpool to be treated after suffering a recurrence of the back injury that had cut short his second spell at Wigan Athletic.

The 20-year-old left-back joined Wigan Athletic on loan this season after excelling with the Latics during the second half of last term.

He was expected to be a key player for the League One side and started the season well.

However, a recurring back problem has negatively affected his loan spell.

He first suffered the back injury in October and missed seven months of action.

He eventually returned to action in March but played only two games before being sidelined again.

Calum Scanlon is another player who had his loan spell cut short through injury.

Liverpool’s 19-year-old left-back saw his loan spell at Millwall cut short earlier this year due to a severe hamstring injury that sidelined him for the rest of the 2024/25 season.

Scanlon joined Millwall in August 2024, but struggled with injuries, making only four appearances.

His first setback was a stress fracture in his back in September, which required a four-month rehabilitation period back at Liverpool.

After a promising return in mid-January, highlighted by his first professional goal in a 2-2 draw with Cardiff City, Scanlon’s progress was abruptly halted when he suffered the hamstring injury just 17 minutes into Millwall’s 1-0 win over Luton.

Unfortunately, that spelt the end of his loan spell at the Championship club.

With the Championship season over, Millwall have now announced their decision to send Scanlon back to Liverpool.

“Josh Coburn, Zak Sturge, Ryan Wintle and Calum Scanlon all return to their parent clubs at the end of their loan spells,” the club announced on Monday.

Scanlon who made his Liverpool debut in a 5-1 UEFA Europa League victory over Toulouse last October3, has since returned to Merseyside for treatment.

Meanwhile, Scanlon took to Instagram to share a message after his injury earlier this year.

“Picking up another injury is difficult,” he began.

“But every time I have come back stronger and hungrier.

This will only make me better.”

“My time at Millwall has been cut short, but I have made amazing memories and met great people?
